Special Events


Usually the non-competition program “Special Events” features films, which deserve special attention. This festival section always attracts attention of public and press, because within frameworks of the program premiere screening can be held and it is followed by press-conferences of directors, actors, cinema producers. Very often films are presented by their directors. So in 2002 at the Molodist the Korean director Kim Ki-Duk presented his two films: “Address Unknown” and “Bad Guy”. The same year the actor and producer Jean-Marc Barr presented his own directorial works. In 2004 at the film festival Molodist the American director with Ukrainian roots, Vadym Perelman presented to the Ukrainian audience his debut film “House of Sand and Fog”.

Within frameworks of the program screening can be followed by presentations of books, photo exhibitions, press-conferences, etc. So, in 2005 the well-known French writer Morice Druon visited the film festival and presented to the Ukrainian audience the film “Roots”, directed by Еlena Fetisova. His life story underlay one of the story line of this documentary film.

So, for the last few years the following runs took place within frameworks of this program: 2001 – the film of the Polish director Jerzy Kawalerowicz “Quo Vadis”. This is the most costly film in all history of the Polish cinema, which was shot after the Henryk Sienkiewicz novel. Screening of the film “The Son’s Room” of the cult Italian producer Nanni Moretti, winner of the number of prestigious cinema awards. 2002 – screening of two films of the Korean director Kim Ki-Duk “Address Unknown” and “Bad Guy” and demonstration of films of the known Bulgarian director of animation films Zlatin Radev. Screening of the documentary film of Albert Maysles “Gimme Shelte” about the world tour of Rolling Stones in 1969. Screening of works of director Jean-Marc Barr, which became famous due to his collaboration with Lars von Trier. 2004 - presentation of Vadym Perelman’s film “House from Sand and Fog” for the Ukrainian audience. 2005 - presentation of the director Еlena Fetisova’s film “Roots”. 2006 – Woody Allen’s film “Sensation” and the film of the director Michel Gondry “The Science of Sleep”.
