50th Molodist concept, online and offline activities, festival passes and opening film were announced

On March 18, Kooperativ HUB hosted the first press conference of the 50th anniversary Kyiv International Film Festival «Molodist», which will take place from May 29 to June 6, 2021 in a hybrid format.

During the press conference, the organizers presented the updated team, planned offline and online activities, the main locations and 4 types of season tickets available for festival guests: Cinephile, Industry, Student, Press. More about season tickets here. It was also announced the start of applications for the international co-production market  — the Boat Meeting.

Andriy Khalpakhchi, artistic director of the festival, announced the opening film. It will be Ivan Mykolaychuk's «Babylon XX», which in 1979 received the award «For the Best Feature Film» at the 10th «Molodist».

«This year, we are not only celebrating 50 years of «Molodist», but also the 30th anniversary of independent Ukraine, so the focus of the film festival will be the promotion of Ukrainian cinema. Moreover, the film festival considers its mission to be a guide and a locomotive of qualitative changes in the national film industry, which is why, providing a platform for interaction between key stakeholders, the event will focus on a powerful industrial section. At the same time, the film festival will focus on preserving the international status of the event and a worthy representation of Ukraine in the world community of film festivals. And of course, despite all the vicissitudes of today, we plan to celebrate!» — the Director of Development and Public Communications, Hlib Rodchenkov.

Fedoriv Agency, a creative partner of the 50th Film Festival, presented a new design system for the project. The main goal is to visually separate the festival as an event and the company that organizes it. With the new identity, Molodist will be able to look new every year without losing its recognizability and authority.

In addition, the film festival announced the first partners, MEGOGO has become one of them. At the press conference, Valeria Tolochyna, the Marketing Director of MEGOGO, announced her support for the National Competition and broadcast of the short film program, as well as a selection of Festival Hits — a selection of retrospective films by «Molodist», which is already available on the media service, here.

«The festival “Molodist” is a modern history of Ukrainian and international cinema. This year, an important part of our partnership will be the support of the National Competition, in which we, together with the organizers of the festival, will open new names. There are many talented specialists in Ukraine, such events will not only give a boost for development, but they will also significantly strengthen the Ukrainian cinema market» — adds Valeria Tolochyna, Marketing Director of MEGOGO.

This year the main fashion designer was the brand FROLOV. Ivan Frolov, the founder and creative director of the FROLOV brand, talks about the cooperation between Frolov x Molodist:

«Youth, young people and cinema have always been my main sources of inspiration in creating FROLOV collections. I still remember running with enthusiasm to ‘Molodist’ sessions, imagining myself one of the heroes of Bertolucci's “Dreamers”. Then I made my way into the hall and sat on the steps of the crowded hall! And today I am happy to become the main fashion designer of the 50th anniversary film festival "Molodist". It is a great honor for me and the FROLOV team. That's why we are incredibly happy to start preparing unexpected fashion activities for this year's film festival».

The general media partner of the «Molodist» film festival will be 1+1. Maksym Kryvytskyi, Head of Television Business, Member of the Board of 1+1 media: «For the second year in a row, we are pleased to support the «Molodist» Film Festival, one of the most important film events not only in Ukraine but also in Eastern Europe. As one of the largest media groups in Ukraine, 1+1 media will provide comprehensive information about the 50th anniversary film festival and its main events. And as the largest producer of Ukrainian-language content and a trendsetter of the media market, 1+1 will join the Boat Meeting and other festival initiatives, which will be announced later».
