Andriy Khalpakhchi, the General director of Molodist KIFF has brought wonderful news from Cannes – we have a new participant in the 47th Molodist International competition, a debut feature film from Ognjen Glavonić called The Load (Teret), Serbia, France, Croatia, Iran, Qatar, 2018, 98’.
Film from the Serbian director has just participated in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (La Quinzaine des Réalisateurs), and now competes for the main festival reward of the International Competition, the Golden Deer.
Political thriller The Load tells about Vlada who works as a truck driver during the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999. Tasked with transporting a mysterious load from Kosovo to Belgrade, he drives through unfamiliar territory, trying to make his way in a country scarred by the war. He knows that once the job is over, he will need to return home and face the consequences of his actions..
This is the second time Molodist hosts Ognjen Glavonić — the director has visited the Kyiv film festival in 2012, when Ognjen participated in the International competition with his short film Made of Ashes (Od pepela).
