The 48th Molodist International Film Festival Molodist has announced the winners of the LGBTQ films Sunny Bunny competition
The award ceremony took place on the May, 31st at the KARZ-12 space. The international jury of the Sunny Bunny competition was represented by three members – American film critic Peter Debruge, Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova and Portuguese director Joao Pedro Rodríguez. The experts had a task to choose the most significant and relevant LGBTQ work among the films participating in the program.
The Sunny Bunny Prize of the 48th Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival was awarded to The Blond One by Marco Berger (Argentina).
“For using the language of cinema to communicate the attraction between two men in a repressive macho culture where they don’t have the words to express themselves. Director Marco Berger subtly but expertly develops a sense of tension in their relationship through charged silences, precise framing, and an intricate system of gazes and gestures.”
The Sunny Bunny jury diploma of the 48th Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival was awarded to Savage by Camille Vidal-Naquet (France).
“For its courageous and non-judgemental look at male prostitution driven by the raw performance of Félix Maritaud that captures the complexity of the character who is both feral and vulnerable. This challenging yet humane portrait doesn’t shy away from the darkness of sex work while inviting audiences to identify with someone who would choose this path.”
