Day 4 at "Molodist". European premiere of the film "Alice", Sunny Bunny and International Full-length Contest
The 4th day of the festival turned out to be very rich: a variety of full-length films, a block of short films, non-contest movies and special screenings. Brief presentations by the participants of the creative process preceded them.
On May 28, the European premiere of the film "Alice" by Josephine Mackerras took place. It tells the story of a woman, Alice, who finds out about her husband's passion for escort services, on which he spent all of the family's money.
The audience was fortunate enough not only to watch a movie, but also to talk with Emily Pipponnie, the lead role actress. She shared that she had to prepare for her role in a very short time:
"I found out about the fact that I will play a role just 3 weeks before filming. Rehearsals with a partner were very helpful. Communication with the director Josephine during the filming also influenced my acting"

We remind for those who did not have time to see "Alice" on May 28 that there will be another screening on June 1 at the "Kyiv" cinema.

The South African film ‘Canary’ was featured in the framework of the Sunny Bunny program. Program coordinator Bogdan Zhuk emphasized:
"I am delighted to present the film by Christiaan Olwagen, which marks the emergence of a new sonorous director from South Africa, who manages to combine several complex themes in a format of a musical, moreover, completely unusual."
‘Canary’ - is a story about a boy from a small town in South Africa, who was taken to the army by conscription, into the chorus of the armed forces. And then the army training, society, hatred, love, - identification of yourself and your close one in context of total apartheid.
On the same day, another movie of the "Sunny Bunny" program - a film by Medelin Olnek "Wild Nights with Emily" was presented:

"The film is interesting because it expresses a very peculiar view of the American writer Emily Dickinson. It is a costumed historical movie, which at the same time is a comedy. The script was written on the basis of true correspondence of women", - Bogdan Zhuk commented on the film. He also noted the importance of disclosing topics of the personal life of the well-known figures in Ukrainian literature: "Of course, when watching this film, one can not but ask for parallels with basically similar story of Lesia Ukrainka and Olga Kobylianska. Perhaps someone from Ukrainian directors will pay attention to these two characters in Ukrainian literature and will make a movie about them. "

Within the framework of this queer-cinema program, “The blond one” movie by well-known Argentinian producer Marco Berger, whose works have repeatedly participated in the Sunny Bunny Competition program, has also been featured. Lead role and at the same time producer - Gaston Re presented it. After the show, the discussion of the movie with him took place. According to the actor, the original idea was the minimal number of dialogues and a more dynamic plot. However, some adjustments are always made in the process of filming the movie, and the final result was what the viewer could see with their own eyes. But, of course, there was - already traditional for Marco Berger's works - "happy end", although, as the actor admitted, there was the idea of making a more questionable ending.
From Argentina we moved to the land of Israel, where Nimrod Eldar shot full-length movie "The Day After I'm Gone" for this year's Molodist international competition program. The film tells about a grown man with difficulties in dealing with his daughter. Or about a girl with a complex relationship with her father. Complex mutual process of self-knowledge: through fights, tense conversations or mutual silence. "This story did not happen to me personally, but in itself it is not fictional, because it is very typical of that area. Such situations are real, therefore, history shows the real world "- the director commented.
"Molodist" is one huge journey. And it is moving on.
