Visegrad Cinema Days: Schedule and Tickets
Visegrad Cinema Days is the week of screenings of modern films from around the Visegrad Group region – the alliance of the four Central European states: Poland, Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe. The film collection of the festival is made with the support from the Polish Film Institute, Slovak Film Institute, Czech Film Center, and the Hungarian National Film Fund.
The Interpreter, 2018, director Martin Šulík, Slovakia, Czechia, Austria;
In Vienna, retiree Georg meets an interpreter named Ali. The two men embark on a journey across Slovakia, encountering wartime survivors who will hopefully lead them to the Nazi officer that killed Ali's parents.

Winter Flies, 2018, director: Olmo Omerzu, Czechia, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, France;
Two mischievous adolescent boys embark on a journey of imaginative misadventure and coming-of-age self-discovery, in Olmo Omerzu's road-trip comedy celebrating the need to indulge the innocence, impulsiveness, and irrepressibility of youth.

Let There Be Light, 2019, director: Marko Skop, Slovakia, Czechia;
Milan (40) has three children and does construction work in Germany in order to provide for his family in Slovakia. While visiting his home over Christmas he discovers that his eldest son Adam is a member of a paramilitary youth group. The boy is involved in bullying and the death of a class-mate. The father has to decide what to do. In this process, along with his wife, he comes to discover the real truth about their son, their family, themselves and the community around them.

The Painted Bird, 2019, director: Václav Marhoul, Czechia, Slovakia, Ukraine;
The film tells the story of a young Jewish boy during the World War II. His parents send him to relatives in Eastern Europe to avoid anti-Semitic persecution. The boy's aunt suddenly dies and he has to take care of himself on his own in a dangerous wild world that is hostile to him… The film is based on the first and the most famous novel by Jerzy Kosiński, who is also known for his books Being There and Pinball.

Corpus Christi, 2019, director: Jan Komasa, Poland;
"Corpus Christi" is the story of a 20-year-old Daniel who experiences a spiritual transformation in a Youth Detention Center. The crime he commits prevents him from applying to the seminary and after his release on parole he is sent to work at a carpenter's workshop. However Daniel has no intention of giving up his dream and dressed as a priest he decides to – minister a small-town parish.

Indeed, no one believes that the troubled ex-detective has discovered a serial murder case.

Kamerdyner, 2018, director: Filip Bajon, Poland
It is the story of the Prussian family von Krauss living in the Puck area, as well as the love between the Kashubian boy Mateusz and the German aristocrat Marita. The film depicts the complicated fate of three nations inhabiting the former Polish-German borderland in northern Kashubia, where the line of the border in Versailles after the First World War divided not only the land but also the people of Germans, Kashubs, and Poles, causing riots and often hatred.

Tátova volha, 2018, director: Jiří Vejdělek, Czechia
Unexpectedly, costume designer Eva has become a widow. The surprises continue when an unknown child's drawing is discovered in her husband's possessions, and even though Eva would generously ignore the discovery, her daughter, whose life is falling apart at the seams, latches onto the idea of an estranged stepbrother. The mother and daughter set out in Ludvík's vintage VOLGA GAZ 21 car to follow the trails of Ludvík's former lovers and friends and find out more about the hidden family secret.

Chata na prodej, 2018, director: Tomáš Pavlíček, Czechia;
A family has decided to sell their lovely cottage as none of them has visited it for some time. Yet it holds so many nostalgic memories that the mother suggests they all spend one last day there before the sale takes place. This deliberately paced comedy, whose protagonists often remind the viewer of characters from a Jaroslav Papoušek screenplay, takes an agreeably detached view of the Czech phenomenon of weekending in the country.

Franta Louka is a concert cellist in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia, a confirmed bachelor and a lady's man. Having lost his place in the state orchestra, he must make ends meet by playing at funerals and painting tombstones. But he has run up a large debt, and when his friend, the grave-digger Mr. Broz, suggests a scheme for making a lot of money by marrying a Russian woman so that she can get her Czech papers, he reluctantly agrees. She takes advantage of the situation to emigrate to West Germany, to her lover; and leaves her five-year-old son with his grandmother; when the grandmother dies, Kolya must come and live with his stepfather - Louka.

Alois Nebel Film, 2011, director: Tomás Lunák, Czechia, Germany;
The film is based on the comic-book trilogy by Jaroslav Rudiš and Jaromír 99. It is set in the late 1980s in a small village in the Jeseník Mountains, close to the Polish border, and tells the story of a train dispatcher who begins to suffer from hallucinations where the present converges with the dark past of the expulsion of Germans after World War II.
