'Molodist' has announced the jury of the competition programs

The 50th anniversary of the Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist will start in a few days in a hybrid format. The films of the competition program will be evaluated by a jury from 12 countries.

JURY OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

 

Ada Solomon — producer, Romania

Producer and representative of the naturalistic school. Participated in Cannes, Venice, and Berlin film festivals. Ada has been working for 20 years in film production. She is the founder of the production company HiFilms. Its latest production work Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn won the prize for Best Film at this year's Berlinale.

 

Juliette Dure — film expert, Belgium

Head of Cinema department at the Center for Fine Arts in Brussels (BOZAR). Supervises the Bridges event. East of West Film Days is a program that annually collects the best films from Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Republic of Moldova and Belarus in Belgium.

 

Maurizio Fantoni Minnella — film critic and director, Italy

He supervised reviews of Italian cinema at Italian cultural institutes in Marseille, Lyon, Lisbon, Helsinki, Thessaloniki, Caracas, Guatemala, Rio de Janeiro, Malta, Haifa, Seoul, Algeria, Beirut, Santiago de Chile, Odessa, Prague, New York, and London. Since 2009 he has been the president of the FreeZone cultural association, and during this time he has made over 20 documentaries.



Natalia Vorozhbyt — scriptwriter and director, Ukraine

Author of more than 14 plays and 6 series, showrunner of the series To Catch the Kaidash. She wrote screenplays for the films Cyborgs and The Wild Field. She made her debut as a director with the film Bad Roads. The film was included in the program of the International Critics' Week of the Venice Festival and won 3 awards of the Kinokolo award.

 

Valentyn Vasyanovych — director, Ukraine

Author of 4 feature films. The last two films, Black Level and Atlantis, were nominated by the Ukrainian Oscar Committee for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2017 and 2020. The film The Tribe, in which Valentyn Vasyanovich was a cameraman, won the Grand Prix of The International Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival and the European Film Awards in the nomination Opening of the Year.

 

JURY OF THE NATIONAL COMPETITION

 

Kyrylo Marikutsa — distributor, Ukraine

Founder of the #KISFF short film festival and the INTRO music and film festival. Co-founder of KyivMusicFilm, a distribution project that presents films about art and contemporary culture.

 

Oksana Voitenko — director, Ukraine

Director of music videos and commercials. She won the National Competition at the Molodist Festival in 2020 with the film Schron (“Hideout»).

 

Wouter Jansen — distributor, Austria

Owner of a festival distribution company Square Eyes. The Square Eyes film catalog collects top awards in Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, and Berlin film festivals. He was the head of the program department of the Go Shorts festival, qualified for the Oscars selection.



JUDICIAL OF THE DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION

 

Jacques Bidou — producer, Belgium

He founded JBA Production, which has produced 115 films since its inception in 1984. He became the producer of Serhiy Loznytsia's film Donbas, which entered the official selection in Cannes and opened the «Un Certain Regard» program in 2019.

 

Peter-Jan de Pue — director, Belgium

After graduating from the RIT School of Visual Arts, he worked for eight years on a documentary about Afghanistan, The Land of the Enlightened. For this film he received the jury award of the Sundance Festival in the nomination «Best Cinematography». He shot a short documentary about the events in Donbass «Girls and Honey».

 

Victoria Leshchenko is the program director of the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Festival, Ukraine

She has 10 years of experience in film festival management. In 2007–2011, she worked as an editor of festival publications and program coordinator of the Molodist festival. Later, she joined the Docudays UA team as a programmer, and in February 2019 — became the program director of the festival.

 

JURY OF THE SUNNY BUNNY COMPETITION

 

Anna Dovgopol — Gender Expert, Ukraine

Coordinator of the program Gender Democracy of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. She has been working for more than 10 years in NGOs related to feminism and LGBT issues in Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.

 

Felix Marito — actor, stuntman, France

Played prominent roles in French queer cinema. He starred in Gaspar Noah's film Lux Æterna. Also he played the leading role in films Knife+Heart, which was included in the program of the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, Wild and Jonas.

 

Marco Berger — film director, Argentina

Winner of the Sunny Bunny program at the 45th and 48th Molodist festival. He received the Teddy Award at the Berlinale for the film Absent, and his film Butterfly was included in the program Panorama of the festival.

Alberto Castellano — essayist and film critic, Italy

He has written about 10 books about cinema. The author's latest publication is a monograph by Clint Eastwood. He was a selector of the International Critics' Week of the Venice Film Festival and taught at the University of Salerno.

 

Raúl Reis — film critic, Luxembourg

Member of the jury of the CinEast festival, founder and manager of the Portuguese-language resource Bomdia.lu, head of the Publications Office of the European Union.

 

Andriy Alferov is a member of the FIPRESCI Film Critics Association, Ukraine

Film critic, TV presenter, curator of the exhibition of the Oleksander Dovzhenko Center Flights in Dreams and Reality. The exhibition explores the cult film of the same name by Roman Balayan and the era in which it was created.

 

ECUMENICAL JURY

 

Christine Ris — public figure, film critic, Switzerland

She had been responsible for the management and organization of the further education department at the Reformed Churches of the canton of Bern-Jura-Solothurn in Switzerland for 11 years. She was a member of the ecumenical jury at the festivals in Mannheim and Saarbrücken (Germany).

 

Beata Kezdi — journalist, Hungary

Journalist and editor-in-chief of the website and magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary. Member of the jury of the 14th Miskolc International Film Festival, Hungary.

 

Victoria Gosudarskaya — communications specialist, Ukraine

Political scientist, journalist and TV presenter specializing in security and information processes.
