Winners for the National Feature Competition at KIFF "Molodist" were announced within FILMFEST HAMBURG

The best film of the National Feature Competition of the KIFF "Molodist," held as part of FILMFEST HAMBURG, is the debut feature film by Maryna Vroda, "Stepne"

The winner of the competition received the "Scythian Deer" statuette, crafted by the jewelry company KIMBERLI, along with a $2,000 cash prize from the International Institute of Depth Psychology.

"This film captures today’s rural Ukraine, providing a detailed portrait of its reality.It is a testament to the director's incredible attention to detail and atmospheric storytelling provided by brilliant cinematography.Each shot is precisely curated, enhancing the depth of the director’s work.This film is a poignant exploration of identity, memory, and connection that resonates deeply with audiences.The Scythian Deer Award goes to Stepne by Maryna Vroda. " the jury emphasized in its commentary.

"I am grateful to my colleagues because I deeply enjoyed watching all the films. Each one is very important to us today. I hope that next year we will find a way to continue making films. Many of our colleagues are heading to the front lines today, including women. Of course, if we have the privilege to work and present our works, I feel a responsibility for what I do. I am thankful to my colleagues and all those who defend our country and allow us to continue living" said director Maryna Vroda during the awards ceremony.

 

The special acknowledgement was presented to Dmytro Moiseiev's film "Gray Bees" The award was received on stage by producer Ivanna Diadiura. "For the masterful adaptation of Ukrainian writer Andrii Kurkov" the jury members added.

 

The jury for the National Feature Competition included : producer Natalia Libet, director and producer Anastasiia Bukovska, and film expert Dennis Ruh. 

The national feature competition featured the following films:

  • "DIAGNOSIS: DISSENT" by Denys Tarasov
  • "THE GLASS HOUSE" by Taras Dron
  • "OXYGEN STATION" by Ivan Tymchenko
  • "STEPNE" by Maryna Vroda
  • "GRAY BEES" by Dmytro Moiseiev
  • "THE EDITORIAL OFFICE" by Roman Bondarchuk

The closing film of "Molodist" within FILMFEST HAMBURG was the documentary "FRAGMENTS OF ICE" by Maria Stoianova.

 

The National Feature Competition of "Molodist" hosted by FILMFEST HAMBURG took place for the third time. This tradition was established following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
