The action takes place 70,000 years ago. This is a story about a young artist, Khlyupik, who lives in a flock where no one sees the necessity of art, as first of all, everyone is supposed to deal with hunting and survival. However, Khlyupik feels insecure because he is not like everyone else in the flock - he loves music and would like to dedicate himself to it. Despite everything, he obeys his father, and tries to become a hunterö he trains and even visits a Shaman. It doesn't work for him, and he finally expresses his true feelings. As a result, he is expelled from the flock. Later, Khlyupik meets the people from his flock in the forest. They are unhappy because of the unsuccessful hunt, and they also blame Khlyupik for leaving them, as they needed help during the hunt. Khlyupik raises their spirits with his music, the flock invents borscht, makes a successful hunt, and accepts Hlyupik the way he is.
