Albert Wiederspiel
Albert Wiederspiel was born in 1960 in Warsaw. He is a Polish film expert and manager, and he was the director of the Hamburg Film Festival from 2003 to 2023.
Due to anti-Semitic riots in Poland, his family was forced to flee to Denmark in 1969. Wiederspiel grew up in Copenhagen and later studied film studies in Paris.
After graduating, he started as a trainee at 20th Century Fox International in 1985. He later moved to 20th Century Fox of Germany, where he headed the PR department and then the marketing department until 1995. From 1996 to 2000 he was Head of Marketing and finally General Manager (Theatrical) at PolyGram Film Entertainment and Universal Pictures Germany. Wiederspiel is a member of the European Film Academy and was appointed Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) in 2013.
