Illa de Arousa, 1971. María is a woman who makes a living by shellfishing. She is also known on the island for helping other women in their deliveries with special dedication and care. After an unexpected event, she is forced to flee and begins a dangerous journey that will make her fight for her survival. Seeking her freedom, Maria decides to cross the border through one of the smuggling routes between Galicia and Portugal.

Jaione Camborda Coll (San Sebastián, 1983) studied film directing at the FAMU in Prague and art direction at the HFF in Munich. Camborda’s films have been screened at film festivals around the world, and she has won several awards for her work, including the Award for Best Direction in the New Waves section at the Seville European Film Festival for ARIMA (2019) and the Best Film award in the Escáner section at the Márgenes Film Festival.
