Alevtina Kakhidze

a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses performance, drawing, text, time-based media, curation and teaching

Alevtina Kakhidze is a Ukrainian feminist artist, performance artist, media artist, and curator of art events.

She was born in Zhdanivka (Donetsk region) in 1973. In 2004 she graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. In 2004-2006 she studied at the Jan van Eyck Academy (Maastricht, the Netherlands). Since 2007, she has lived in the village of Muzychi near Kyiv, where she opened a private residence for artists in 2008.

Alevtina attended the National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture in Kyiv (1999-2004) and the Jan van Eyck Academy in the Netherlands (2004-2006). She won the Competition for Young Curators and Artists at the Center for Contemporary Art at NaUKMA in 2002, the Kazimir Malevich Artist Award in 2008, Women in Arts Award 2023 from UN Women of Ukraine, and also received a Honorary Mentions from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Ars Electronica Festival in 2023.
